Sygun Copper Mine
This mine is set in the Gwynant Valley near Beddgelert. Self-guided audiovisual tours allow you to explore the old workings on foot, in complete safety. There are winding tunnels and large, colourful chambers, magnificent stalactite and stalagmite formations and copper ore veins which contain traces of gold, silver and other precious metals.
There is also a hands on timeline interactive exhibition featuring, Bronze Age, Roman and Medieval artifacts, coin collection from Julius Caesar to Queen Elizabeth 2 and an
Art Gallery.
This attraction can be easily visited whilst staying in the Conwy Valley, and is 13 miles (20 km) from Betws-y-Coed as the crow flies (straight line distance). See the routeplanner below for a suggested route and estimated journey time.
